
This Thursday, Willow Brook Primary School transformed into a world of creativity, adventure, and a celebration of books during its exciting World Book Day event. Students and staff came together to embrace the theme of banned and challenged booksāstories that have faced obstacles throughout history but have continued to inspire readers across generations.
Throughout the day, children were immersed in the stories of iconic and sometimes controversial books, from the wild mischief of Where The Wild Things Are to the magical journeys found in Roald Dahlās James and the Giant Peach. These books, once considered too bold or too imaginative, have stood the test of time and continue to be loved by readers of all ages.
But the fun didnāt stop there! Students also participated in a Villains, Outlaws, and Anti-Heroes fancy dress day. The halls of Willow Brook were filled with some of literatureās most notorious characters. From the Big Bad Wolf and Captain Hook to mischievous characters like Horrid Henry and Just William, students truly brought their favorite bookish rogues to life, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm.
The day was a true celebration of the power of books, sparking curiosity and encouraging a love of reading. Willow Brookās World Book Day event reminded everyone that books are not just a source of learning but also a gateway to adventures, new ideas, and exciting possibilities.
