Our Year 4 athletes have been making the most of our ongoing partnership with The Lammas School, heading over each week to utilise their fantastic professional facilities. Having access to full-sized courts and high-quality equipment has truly levelled up our PE sessions!
This term, the focus has been split between two fast-paced, high-skill sports: Basketball and Netball. While they might look similar at a glance, our students are learning that the nuances of footwork and ball handling make each one a unique challenge.
What we’ve been working on:
Precision Passing: From chest passes to bounce passes, Year 4 is learning how to move the ball with accuracy and speed.
Strategic Footwork: Navigating the “no-running” rule in netball versus the dribbling skills required for basketball.
Shooting Success: Developing the arc and focus needed to find the back of the net (and the hoop!).
Teamwork & Communication: Understanding court positions and working together to create scoring opportunities.
Stepping out of the primary school environment and into a secondary school sports hall helps our students build confidence and adaptability. Seeing the “big” courts inspires them to push their physical limits and gives them a taste of the sporting opportunities that lie ahead in their academic journeys.
