新年快乐 which literally translates as “New Year Happiness”. Willow Brook continues its proud tradition of connecting with communities around the World celebrating the Lunar New Year. Wednesday 29 January was the start of the Year of the Snake, where the children in Year 6 who were born in 2013 are considered to be calm and wise individuals, patient, good at exercising our school’s value of critical thinking and collaborating with others.
To celebrate Lunar New Year, Reception classes showed that they were able to recognise, read and write Chinese characters for the numbers one to ten. Nursery got to hear the story of the Lunar New Year Race, watch a Lion Dance performance and have a go at wearing part of a Lion Dance costume.
