Day 2 of the Griffin Literacy Festival: The Mystery of the Egg Deepens
Day two of our Literacy Festival at Willow Brook Primary has been full of excitement, creativity, and discovery as the giant egg continues to spark the imaginations of pupils and staff alike.
After contacting London Zoo for advice, we were thrilled to welcome Archie, a leading zoologist, to our school. Archie spent the day visiting classrooms, gathering evidence, and helping us piece together clues about the eggâs origins. After much investigation, it seems all signs point to a remarkable conclusion: the egg might belong to a Griffin.
This revelation has inspired incredible learning opportunities across the school. Year 3 pupils have been busy creating detailed fact files about Griffins, blending research with their own imaginative ideas. In Year 4, budding journalists have taken on the task of reporting on the egg, writing articles to keep us all informed. Year 5 students have been experimenting with different forms of storytelling, using the mystery of the egg as their focus. Meanwhile, in Early Years, our youngest learners have been exploring rich and descriptive language to capture the magic and wonder of the egg.
In addition to all this, we were delighted to host the second of our Reading at Home workshops for parents and families. These workshops provide valuable tips and strategies to help families support childrenâs literacy at home, strengthening the connection between school and home reading.
As the festival continues, weâre excited to see what other creative ideas and writing emerge from our pupilsâand, of course, weâre all eagerly waiting to find out whatâs inside the egg. Stay tuned for more updates as our Literacy Festival unfolds!
