Intent

At Willow Brook Primary, we believe that every child has the right to access a purposeful, high quality R.E curriculum that promotes their spiritual, moral, cultural and social growth. The intent of our R.E curriculum is to nurture and develop their individual knowledge and understanding of the rich diverse community they live in. Along with the Waltham Forest motto ‘Fellowship is life’ at Willow Brook we percolate this within our RE curriculum so that the outcomes for every child champion their independence, awareness and responsibility to society.

This is through systematic enquiry into religion and worldviews and providing a space to allow thought provoking challenging questions about meaning and purpose in life. The children can develop their understanding and skills needed to appreciate and value varied responses to these questions and develop responses of their own.

This promotes our children’s sense of personal identity, fostering deeper meaning behind ideas, values and purpose in the local, national and wider global community.

Our curriculum inspires and engages children with the development of critical thinking, allowing children to explore, discover, reflect and appreciate beliefs, cultural practices, and world views.

Through cross curricular links, we enrich children with opportunities to develop articulate, critical dialogue with each other. At Willow Brook we equip our children with the skills they need to flourish and coexist as a member of our diverse society
